Dear UBGF Club Members,
Well, it’s time for the final “tune up” on those
derbies, as the UBGF
Derby
National Run-Off is just a couple of weeks away.
Females run on Friday, May 6th and males run on Saturday,
May 7th. The judges panel and all
trial information are on the cover page of this website under
“Latest announcements”. We would love to see you
bring all those qualified derbies!
There was a total of 250 entries at the UBGF All-Age National
Run-Off in November, which was an increase of 7 dogs over the
previous year. Thank you for your support.
The AKC National Championship trial which was held on the UBGF
running ground’s, was just concluded two days ago.
It was a success in many ways. Plenty of
rabbits for the 311 entries to run, great food provided by Anthony
Wiley and the super Butler County kitchen crew, along with great
preparation of the club house and running grounds by the Butler
County Beagle Club membership.
Speaking of the
Butler
County Beagle Club membership, they are to be commended for the
successful completion of 8 horse corrals, under roof.
It looks great and we thank them for supplying both labor and
finances. One of Butler County’s next projects
will be to increase the number of dog kennels that will be
available.
The UBGF Board has purchased a new Automated External Defibrillator
(AED) for your club house. This AED is very user
friendly as it leads the user through the process.
We also purchased a refurbished AED unit for the
Butler
County Emergency Squad. They respond to any call
at our running grounds and were in great need of a unit.
It will be presented to them at the Derby Run-Off.
Jess and Gladys Yates, along with Rick McDonald as
coordinator, have pledged the UBGF share of monies from the LITTLE
Warrior picnic/auction to be used for these two AED units and
donated in memory of our beloved UBGF member from Volunteer Beagle
Club, Chester Haston.
Hope to see you at the Run-Offs!
Yours in Beagling,
Fred C. Scheetz
